What starts right usually ends right. When we start out on the right path there is a high likelihood we’ll end up where we want to go. This is true in life and in sales.

Here are some questions that will help you think through the details of setting your course for sales success in 2022:
1. What is your plan to grow sales this year? Most businesses I work with shoot for a steady 10-15% growth year over year. That goal requires prospecting and sales behaviors to increase not only sales volume, but also average $/sale.
2. How can you decrease average cost per sale? This may be the tougher end of the sales profitability equation this year, with the effects of inflation becoming all too real.
3. How can you improve your customers’ experience as they do business with you? Do an inventory of employee strengths and find ways to maximize what they do well to the benefit of the customer and the company.
4. What ways can you innovate to increase sales? Innovation comes in two basic forms; improve current offerings and create new offerings. Think of ways you can do one or both.
5. When is the last time you asked your customers their opinion of your company? A simple survey asking, “What have we done well?” and “What can we improve?” can provide you with valuable insights that can guide your actions on the other 4 questions.
In the words of Ben Franklin, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!”. Now is the time to get your sales strategy in order, put it in place. Then execute, evaluate and adjust on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
